Settle In
The questions you already typed into Google

Eight questions, eight answers. None of them weasel-worded.

If you're trying to decide whether to spend $48 on something your cat might ignore, you should know the return policy before you read the product page — not after. Start with the hard numbers.

Then send it back. You have 45 days from delivery. You don't need to explain that your cat is being weird — we already assume that's possible, that's the whole reason we sell ten things and not nine hundred.

Email returns@settlein.shop, tell us the order number, and we'll send a prepaid label the same business day. We don't ask you to photograph the unused product. We don't ask you to defend the cat. The refund hits the original payment method within 5–7 business days of us receiving it.

Try placement first. Cats scratch to mark, which means they want to do it where they already hang out — not in the corner you designated. Move the scratcher to within six feet of whatever she's currently scratching incorrectly (couch arm, doorframe, you).

Give it a week. If she's still ignoring it at the new spot, it's the wrong texture or angle for her — that's a real reason to return it, and we'll swap it for a different style or refund. No interrogation either way.

Orders placed before 2pm Pacific ship the same business day. Delivery is 2–5 business days to the continental US via UPS Ground. You get a tracking number within a few hours of ordering, and a real human reads the inbox if it gets stuck somewhere.

We don't ship internationally yet. Alaska, Hawaii, and PO boxes add 2–3 days. If something hasn't arrived after seven business days, that's the moment to email us, not before.

Each product page has the exact dimensions in inches and the assembled weight, plus the rough cat-size range it was designed for (in pounds). When in doubt, size up — cats use spaces that feel slightly larger than they need; they don't use ones that are tight.

If you order and the unit feels wrong out of the box, don't assemble it. Tape it back up, email us, we'll send a label and a different size. You're not stuck with it.

Honestly: the catalog is built around the first-cat situation. A two-cat household has different problems — resource competition, territory negotiation — and a different catalog would serve you better.

That said, the larger scratcher tower and the wand toy work fine for two cats who already get along. The cave-style beds will get fought over and we don't recommend them for two unless you buy two. We'd rather you not order than order the wrong thing.

Congratulations — that means it's working. Cardboard scratchers wear out in four to six months of daily use. We sell replacement cardboard tiers for the villa and the lounge scratcher at $12 each.

Email us with your order number and we'll match the replacement to your unit. Don't throw out the base; that's the part that lasts.

Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay. All in USD. No PayPal, no buy-now-pay-later, no crypto. Checkout runs through Stripe — your card details never touch our servers.

The contact page has a structured-choice widget for the common situations — track an order, damaged item, missing item, product question. Pick the one closest and you'll get routed to the inbox that handles it.

If none of those fit, email hi@settlein.shop directly. We reply within one business day. We do not have a phone line. Mara writes the Sunday newsletter; she doesn't answer support emails.
